Drag Racing
TORCA has several members that own speed shops and host competing teams, Peter of Dragon Race Engineering (DRE) and Rich of Corvette Connection (who sponsors Club Clash) and many more members that enjoy launching down the quarter-mile at Bandimere Speedway in Morrison, CO. If you are interested in participating, or joining one of the teams, generally on Friday evenings, raise your hand at a monthly meeting, and we'll point to the right people in the room. Or call Peter of Dragon Race Engineering at 303-438-1571 or Rich of Corvette Connection at 303-298-8388.
Club Clash at Bandimere
Schedule
Background information
- CLUB CLASH is a race event that takes place over 6 evenings throughout the
Summer. Any car club is invited to race their vehicles in competition for money
and also trophies, awarded at the end of the year. Dragon Race Engineering (DRE) hosts a team if you want to play.
- This is both a fun and family event. You will see lots of dads with their kids.
The participants love to chat and talk about cars. Most attendees enjoy the
Tailgating atmosphere with hot food and soft drinks. Peter and his DRE pit
crew will be there with enough dogs, burgers and soft drinks for everyone.
Make sure and bring a lawn chair. NO alcoholic beverages are allowed.
- Remember you are invited to race your car as registered DRE team members.
Racers must enter at the South end of the complex labeled “racers only”. Drive
up to the entry gates and give $30 to Bandimere. You will get your racing
forms when you pay. Drive your car to the pit area. DRE will have a reserved
section located at the SOUTH and EAST end of the PIT area, just East of the
staging lanes for racing. They will help you to complete the registration process.
You can bring spectators with you in your car. Each will be charged the std $10
entry fee. You can drive with them directly to the DRE pit area.
- Spectators who drive their cars but want only to watch the event will park in the
main entry area marked for spectators. The $10 fee will be paid at the entry gate.
Once parked you can carry your lawn chair to the DRE pit area and join the
group. Only race vehicles are allowed in the pit area but spectators are welcome
to walk through and join the racers.
- It is a good idea to bring a jacket with you for sundown cooling and rain.
RACER’S INFORMATION
- The CLUB CLASH is a handicapped event. It does not matter how fast or
slow your car is. The key to winning is consistency of the car and accuracy of
the driver in leaving the starting line. You will see many (50%) daily driver
vehicles there for racing. All cars must be street legal and licensed. The DRE
crew and racing team will be there to give you hints on how to win.
- There are two classes for this event. Those cars that have an ET of 14 seconds
or slower (virtually all stock Corvettes except C6Z06 are in this class) and
those with an ET of less than 14 seconds are in another class. If your car is in
this faster class you will be required to wear an approved helmet. If needed
you can rent one on site very cheaply.
- Racing your car at the drag strip is fun and safe. It is no more stressful on a
stock car than a spirited drive through the mountains.
- Time trials are between 4-6:30 pm. Arrive as early as possible to get your 2
trial runs in and establish your ET. Again the DRE team will be there to
guide you through the process.
