NCCC RMR Autocross
Colorado West Corvette Club - Fruita, CO
June 3, 2007

It was a beautiful drive out to the western slope. Everything is green and there was minimal road work. About 35 cars showed up, some as far away as Gunnison, CO.  TORCA had a good showing with Ed, Sandy, Ken, Jackie, Vernon, Cheryl, Mike, Becky, Curt, Roger (and his friend Kitty). Those who planned ahead got reservations at the Super 8 or Comfort Inn in Fruita, but because of a National Junior College Baseball World Series, held in Grand Junction every year, Mike and Becky had to get a room at the Super 8 in Grand Junction. Curt got up at 3AM to make the trip.

Dinner Saturday was at Rib City in Fruita where the TORCA members were joined with DtRC and CSCC clubs (25 in all).  TORCA established the Fastest Time of Day (FTD) for Men and Women in Group 1. The 1st overall standings were posted showing TORCA as #1 in points! The competition  is getting fierce as other clubs/competitors are resorting to race tires (which they swap out at the course) to keep up. The event was three two-run autocrosses.

Unfortunately Kitty was overcome by a pain in her side after the 1st and 2nd autocrosses and Roger had to take her into the hospital in Grand Junction. They were unable to make it back for the 3rd autocross, but Roger did finish the day with the Z06 hat, as he had beat Ken and Mike the first two events. Mike drove our Chaplain, Becky, to the hospital so she could visit and pray with Kitty. We played a few hands of Poker until it was time for her CAT scan. Another friend of Roger's showed up to pay off a bet he made with Kitty earlier in the day (Matthew ran his 1st autocross with us and will be joining TORCA).
