TORCA November 2007 Mystery Meal
Hosts: Ralph and Carol J. - Parker, CO

Ralph and Carol J. hosted a unique mystery meal that began with a mystery tour. The plan was to have two groups of 11 vettes each, head out of the Colorado National Speedway and turn south onto I-25 and eventually get to Arapahoe Road south of Denver toward Centennial Airport. Unfortunateley, as soon as wee hit the Interstate, traffic was blocked, and with a few rapid radio calls between the vettes we scurried off onto the E-470 toll road. All the vettes made a pass through the first toll gate, all-in a spectacular line, and then we got off at Hwy 76 south toward Commerce City. A diversion east on I-270 picked up I-70 and then south again on I-225 around Aurora. The entire group made the exit at Parker Road and headed back west to Centennial Airport where we stopped at "The Track at Centennial Airport".

This was a go-kart track that Ralph had arranged for us to get a special discount on. Half the crowd paid their $35 fee for 20 minutes of fun and suited up with helmets, gloves and neck restraints all provided by the track (Normally its only 10 minutes) We all zipped out onto the track in two separate sessions in 11 carts, which had centrifigul clutches. Brake on the left foot and throttle on the right. If you were lighter than others you had an advantage in speed.

We were tired after that fun and went to Carol's house for drinks and appetizers, where we all hung out until 4 PM. Mike lead everyone into singing 'happy birthday' for Carol who also had an anniversary with Ralph on that weekend. Most of the party headed out again on the final event, to the actual dinner, turning south on Parker Road again. We probably all thought it was going to be in Parker, but by the time we hit the town of Elizabeth (east of Castle Rock) it was certain we were going somewhere off the beaten track. We ended up in a great steak place (probably run by a local rancher) in Kiowa. It was dark when we arrived to a beautiful sunset. We had a great crowd there and the meat was tender. We all got home about 8:00 PM. One of the longest mystery meals but one with a lot of entertainment value. Thank you Ralph and Carol for the effort, planning and expense you went through to give us all a rousing good time! (especially for the Drambui, buddy).
