Irene leads a merry band of men and women all over the local hiking trails and if you like the beauty of our state, it doesn’t get much better than this. TORCA’s hikers go out about twice a month. They’ve done Rabbit Mountain, Betasso Preserve, Heil Valley Ranch, and Golden Ponds just to name a few. Contact Irene L. for details on the next one. Did I mention Lunch afterwards?
Here is what Irene had to say about the Aug. 9th hike…
Four fantastic TORCA ladies struck out on a hike Wednesday Aug. 9th up Pines to Peak Trail (aka Bald Mountain) in Boulder. While this was a 1.5 mile hike, it gave us 360 degree views of Sunshine Canyon, Continental Divide, Flatirons and Denver plains. Our photograph shows Cheryl, Gretchen and Nancy while I stood behind the camera. It was very clear to see where fires have changed the landscape of several canyon areas over the past years. Once down off that mountaintop, we decided to travel a little further north on Hwy 36 to Wonderland Lakewhere we struck out to encircle the lake. After making it mostly through the first part of the hike we turned back since it was getting too warm and we had seen all the majestic mirror images along the lake. We may revisit this hike at another time, leaving either earlier in the morning or waiting until closer to fall when temps are cooler and more comfortable.
We then traveled into Boulder to the 29th Street Mall where we enjoyed a leisurely yummy lunch at Modern Market. All in all, an elevating day with friends.
